As part of this, we invited Arpita Shetty for an exclusive interview with us. She is an Entrepreneur, Leader, Lifestyle Consultant, Clinical Nutritionist and Wellness Expert. Arpita is the Founder of Kalp Nutrition. Let’s learn more about her incredible journey, her background, and her advice for our growing community!

Excerpts from our exclusive interview with Arpita:

We are aware of your contribution to the ecosystem; talk us through your background and your journey, please;

I did my schooling from St Xavier’s High School and further pursued masters from the prestigious Symbiosis School of Biomedical sciences.

I was a passionate individual from the beginning and always aspired to be one of the youngest achievers by delivering high performance in all walks of life.

During my college days, I took part in major contests and competitions since I was an all-rounder in studies & cultural activities.

I was the general secretary in my degree college representing my college on multiple forums for debate, cultural activity and keeping up the notion for every inter-college competition.”

What made you passionate about ‘Nutritionist’?

Helping others heal is truly my passion. My goal is to guide my clients to find happiness and live their life to the fullest. There are certain paths that during the course of time are developed and even if we want changes don’t take place.

I believe we all are capable of making any change we desire for ourselves. Whether you are dealing with social anxiety due to your physical appearance, pain, limiting beliefs or medical ailments.”

Food and Lifestyle management can enhance your ability and give you the confidence to overcome that stress and upgrade to a better you.

Food is something that can give you inner joy in regard to your age or gender. Hence we use this joy to turn it into something that can help you build yourself or upgrade you into a better you.

‘Kalp Nutrition’ is such a unique name; talk us through more about it, please. Our audience would also love to know what kind of problem you are solving?

We all must have heard about a tree called the Kalpavriksha which is well known in our Indian mythology as a wish-fulling tree, which is not only wish to full but also diving and blessing.

Our name Kalp is derived from the same name. We as healthcare care about our clients and try to provide guidelines and solutions which help a person reach their goals, heal and recover from their health ailments and fulfil their wishes to live a happy and healthy life.”

We provide nutrition consultation and nutrition coaches for anyone who is looking towards improving their health, looking for weight management.

We also guide patients who are looking for recovery through medical conditions such as PCOD, Thyroid, cancer, and other medical issues through natural food intake.

How do you manage to keep going despite the challenges? What drives you?

Empowering and challenging the myths, stereotypes about the wellness journey to have self-awareness and courage to do their own therapy to live a life of respect, dignity and treat others with the same ethical principles is my drive to work in this field.

I believe in sharing Joy and helping people with simpler solutions to overcome their health problems. I believe all people are capable of change. It is important to understand people are shaped by their experiences and circumstances and their will to bring that change in them.

At Kalp Nutrition we envision a world in which all people have access to treatment that can help them improve their mental, emotional and physical health Healing themselves first and then later promoting healthier families and communities.

Who do you believe has been the biggest source of motivation in your daily life?

My life changed around my pillars; my parents have always been there in all my ups and downs. They have been my biggest support and motivators for me.

Sometimes, there are days when I feel low and de-motivated, it’s my family that’s been there during those times, from guiding me to suggesting me the right choices to make. I would definitely credit my parents for taking care of me during my highs and lows.

What are some of the strategies that you believe have helped you grow as a person?

There are a few:

> Being mindful

> Always being resourceful

> Taking extreme ownership and responsibility for my actions Courage

> Ability to take risks & venture into uncharted territories.

> Trying to discipline myself for certain habits and tasks while multitasking.

> Trying to always learn on my way to growing into what I am today.

Please share with us, how do you motivate your clients?

Focus and self-discipline are the keys to achieving any goal a person sets for themselves. We at Kalp Nutrition not just help you achieve that goal but help you heal mentally and emotionally which is like a fine tuning to your complete self.

Communication is the key according to us which helps us solve 50% of their problems. We listen, we understand and then customize a plan which just doesn’t focus on short-term goal but also focus on long-term changes and help them adapt it and maintain it for the long term.”

Also, fun is the most vital aspect of taking part in anything, and yet one of the hardest to achieve. My work is to empower clients to take on responsibilities for their own self-development and show confidence in their abilities to achieve their goals.

You are always positive and motivated, what keeps you going?

My motivation drives me from criticism. Whenever someone criticizes my work or my methods that motivates me to improve and prove them wrong. Staying disciplined comes from the desire to master my skill to keep learning something new, and my genuine enjoyment for my purpose. I try to set boundaries which take practice so that I don’t get bogged down by my client’s problems.

I have a habit of talking by myself when I am feeling low or feel that I am losing my sense of motivation. A self-prep talk really helps me. I just keep reminding myself what I have started to do and why I am doing it. What is my purpose for doing it? I also read works by people I admire with uplifting material that reminds me of the power we all have within us.”

Last but not least, when I see my clients having a moment and I get the privilege of witnessing their breakthrough, it’s the most powerful stimulant I can imagine.

In your opinion, what are the keys to success?

I will say it straight that there are many factors but if you really have to have the key elements then to me these are the ones:

(a) Accepting & Loving myself.

(b) Responsibility for my actions

(c) Standing up for myself

(d) Resourcefulness

(e) Curiosity

(f) Positive Attitude

(g) Taking massive action (execution) with consistency and belief

(h) Not forgetting to have your own little piece of happiness

(i) Keeping your peace of mind in check

What advice would you give students and young professionals who want to have a successful career?

Always build your career around things that motivates you or drives you to bring change not only in your life but also in somebody else’s life. How your profession or your work could be a solution to someone else problem.

Don’t just use your work or job as a mode of earning money but to build an identity for yourself just by influencing someone to do well. Respecting your work is a very important part of growth and having a successful career.

There is so much to be shared, but this conversation limits how much I can communicate on this platform. Students and young professionals regularly reach out to me on LinkedIn with their specific queries.

Last but not least, what about your journey makes it satisfying/exciting?

Getting great feedback from those who have been inspired through my social media content, through my coaching sessions/programs amps up my energy to deliver more value to them. Seeing shifts in them and in their journey makes it satisfying because I see their success as my success and their breakthroughs as mine.

I have trained and certified a lot of physiotherapists who can now give basic nutrition tips to athletes who are majorly in need of nutrition and special dietary intake.
